Ever since I started knitting for Etsy and markets I wanted to make a textured hat with a single braided cable. I looked for a pattern using super bulky yarn and couldn’t find one anywhere. When I got a little more comfortable with pattern design, I decided to design the hat I had been looking for for so long!
The Sydney Hat is a beginner friendly textured cable-knit hat. It’s perfect for everyday wear, market prep, and gift knitting. It is knit seamlessly with a simple, yet lightly intricate pattern that will keep you interested from start to finish.
This pattern will make the perfect addition to your market line up and it’s the perfect last minute gift knit. It comes in child and adult sizes so no one is left out!
SIZES
Make this hat in both adult and child sizes
Adult: 20-22″ head
Child: 16-18″ head
DIFFICULTY
Beginner: You will need to know how to cast on, knit, purl, work in the round, bind off, and cable needle. If you haven’t knit cables before, this pattern would be the perfect opportunity to learn!
YARN
Size 6 super bulky yarn – approximately 100 yards. My go to is Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick.

US 13 (9.00 mm) 16″ circular needles (you can have longer ones if you want to do magic loop)
